CLASS OF 1931 PHOTO
Submitted by the children of Wilburm M. Lowe, Jr.

I sent the photo to Shelley in response to her request of
when my Dad graduated from Minden High. I searched through his old records(
Dad died in 2000 and I now live in his house and am the current keeper of
his records) and found that picture. My brother, I and others looked at it
and determined that Dad was the third from the top left slightly hidden
behind a girl. We don't know who any of the rest are though my brother knows
some of his friends name that probably are in the picture. It's actually a
year earlier than he should have graduated. Our grandmother told us one time
that Dad went to school during the summer a couple of years so he could
graduate early and did.
The reason for Patsy Lowe's name on the email is I sent
it from her house. We are alternating staying with her lately. Mom (Patsy
Lowe) is still living (will be 91 April 8, 2008). She did not go to Minden
High, she went to Evergreen. Due to her advance age and current mental state
she wouldn't be much help identifying anyone in the picture. We've asked her
recently about some family photos and she had trouble identify them. Some of
which my brother and I were fairly sure of. It's unfortunate that those
early graduation photos were not labeled as to who was where. A problem
we've notice with our own family photos. We're working on those as fast as
we can.
You might be interested in an original Grig for the year
1936 I found in Dad's stuff though I don't know why he would have had that
year. Also, I've posted the graduation picture on my
website in case anyone needs another source of it.

I also found this:
A picture of Dad taken about 9 years after that
graduation (Feb 5 1940). See that twinkle in his eye, I came two years
later,1942)Wilburn M. Lowe III
What a beautiful graduation
class picture – and all the girls had bouquets – the invitation was even
beautiful – I loved it!

never called.

And this:
A friend of Dad's (James Biles) graduation anouncement for the year 1932.

James Biles
was the ex father-in-law to my cousin Barbara Lynn Langheld. Barbara married
James "Bubb" Biles, Jr. They had one son, Carret Biles. He passed away less
than a year ago. (2007) Bubb remarried and lives in England with his
wife and their daughter.

Mrs. Alsobrook, Mrs. Don Hinton, and Mrs. Davidson Brown
were sisters I believe. Mrs. Brown taught English @ MHS. They were friends
of my Mother, Katie Drew Carey. Mrs. Alsobrook was the 1st grade teach for
many of us at Richardson Elementary. She was such a kind person. I noticed
the serious nature of those in the 1931 graduation picture. Considering
what this group of people was going through with the Great Depression, it is
understandable that they were a little more serious than were we 30-35 years
later.

I asked someone at the funeral yesterday about the 3
RATHBUN sisters: Mrs. Alsobrook, Mrs. Don Hinton, Mrs. Rolene Brown.
That is the last name.
